Maryland Rural Counties Coalition Made Mark In 2012 General Assembly

According to all accounts,  a coalition of five rural Maryland counties succeeded in making a mark in the 2012 General Assembly session. The Maryland Rural Counties Coalition- which consists of Allegany, Carroll, Cecil, Frederick and Washington counties- worked together during the regular session to make the voice of rural Maryland heard on key issues. The coalition focused on three major legislative fights over bills limiting the effect of PlanMaryland, bills to limit the use of septic systems in large developments and Chesapeake Bay restoration funding. Frederick County Commissioner Blaine Young said it was important for the coalition to receive the blessing of the senators and delegates that represents rural Maryland before moving forward…
