McKay Comments on Progress Between City and CSX on Bridges

In 2003, having similar problems with CSX, the state of Delaware’s Department of Transportation took the railroad to court and won. We haven’t reached that point in Cumberland yet. Delegate 1C Mike McKay says he believes significant progress is being made between the city of Cumberland and CSX Transportation regarding the three deteriorating CSX bridges on the west side- and an agreement could be close at hand. The condition of the Washington, Cumberland and Fayette Street bridges- and the question of who owns and is responsible for them has been a point of contention for years. McKay says he believes after recent meeting a memorandum of understanding that would see the bridges repaired, and then transferred to the city, is a real possibility…
