Mercy Fest Scheduled Downtown for Those Battling Addiction

“Mercy Fest” is the name of an event scheduled Saturday in downtown Cumberland – with the focus being to provide support and housing for those facing addiction issues. J. Maverick Dixon, representing a group known as Hippie Christian Fellowship,  told the Cumberland Mayor and City Council that he has worked as  a minister, a missions activist and clinical social worker for years- and the a program known as “God Seed Housing” is designed to provide housing, counseling and spiritual teachings to those suffering from addiction. The August 31st festival will be in the parking lot of Roses. Dixon says the hope is to be as inclusive as possible when it comes to providing resources for those battling drug issues…
