Minimum Wage Hike Could Be Revisited Says Local Lawmakers

April 24th, 2019 by WCBC Radio

At yesterdays legislative breakfast wrap-up the four members of the Western Maryland delegation said that the minimum wage hike that was passed this session could be revisited in the future depending on future economic conditions.

The minimum wage is set to increase to $11 per hour in January with a .75 cent increase every year until it hits $14 per hour in 2024. Then in 2025 the minimum wage becomes $15 per hour.

The writing of this story is a fine display of the folly of raising the minimum wage locally. An error in the headline and two in the very first line of the text that would not be made by a properly educated elementary school student. $110 million a year to ACPS for results like this should be revisited as well.
