New Medical Marijuana Products Will Be Available In MD Soon

January 6th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

New medical marijuana products will soon be available in Maryland. Cannabis edibles, like cookies, brownies and various forms of candy, will be made and sold at authorized dispensaries. Patients say it's a welcome option, but the state is scrambling to come up with rules and regulations to keep people, especially children, safe.  The Maryland Cannabis Commission is tackling all of the issues and concerns that are popping up- because before cannabis edibles are manufactured and sold, it must develop rules and regulations.  The proposed regulations include putting a universal marijuana symbol on each package, disclosing the THC content and putting a cap on the amount allowed in each serving. There will be warning labels. Packaging must be child resistant and there are to be no animal, cartoon or human shaped candies. There will be restrictions on flavors and types of food. Will Tillburg, acting director of the Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, says the priority for the commission is the safety of patients and preventing access to these products for minors and over consumption…

This whole concept is absurd. As a prescription medicine it should be placed in a capsule and not in cookies or gummies. Why tempt unknowing children with cookies or candies? If a child will ingest Tide Pods laundry detergent they will try anything.
Hold off on this idea until the day arrives when recreational use is legalized.

Another age group to add is teens. If a teen wants to try their I’ll grandma’s or parents meds they will find a way. Then put them behind the wheel. Very scary. A law needs to be passed that says The adult is held totally responsible for any harm brought to a minor.

Oh my goodness people seriously… it’s weed. It’s 1000x less harmful than alcohol and prescription drugs. Please educate yourself before writing these silly comments on here. Weed is not a gateway drug either, you’ve been brainwashed to think it is. Alcohol is the real gateway drug because I can tell you from my own experiences that if I drink and I’m drunk, I’m more likely to try things that are not good for me. Meaning I don’t have control, when I have eaten an edible before I still have control of what’s going on and chances are… I’m not getting off the couch. Also, edibles are much better than anything being smoked keep that in mind. Please be mindful of others, weed does help people.

Other than vitamins how many other forms of “medicine” need to be placed in gummies? Or baked into brownies or cookies? FDA recently banned flavored nicotine cartridges due the appeal to children. There is no consistency of thought related to this nonsense.

Remember folks, it only takes one toke of the devil’s lettuce… just one. Stay safe out there.

“How many murders, suicides, robberies, criminal assaults, holdups, burglaries, and deeds of maniacal insanity it causes each year, especially among the young, can only be conjectured. No one knows, when he places a marijuana cigarette to his lips, whether he will become a joyous reveler in musical heaven, a mad insensate, a calm philosopher, or a murderer.”
