The Allegany County Commissioners are hoping a package of local bills focusing on lifting some of the more stringent alcohol laws in the county will be approved in the Maryland General Assembly this session- however not everyone is satisfied with the Allegany County Liquor Boards role in the process. While the commissioners submitted three bills to the local delegation for consideration- they first asked the liquor board to conduct a survey of club and tavern owners and package store operators to get a consensus. Harry Grove, an officer with the Cresaptown Eagles, said that club representatives were given virtually no chance to discuss the proposed legislation- receiving the survey with a request that it be returned the following day. He said he spoke privately with a member of the liquor board about the situation- and his concerns were essentially ignored…
