NWS Issues Squal Advisory For Western Mountains

A DANGEROUS SNOW SQUALL WILL AFFECT GARRETT...SOUTH CENTRAL
WESTMORELAND...FAYETTE...TUCKER...PRESTON...MONONGALIA...MARION AND
SOUTHEASTERN WETZEL COUNTIES...

AT 259 PM EST...A DANGEROUS SNOW SQUALL WAS ALONG A LINE EXTENDING
FROM NEAR SOMERSET TO FAIRMONT. MOVEMENT WAS EAST AT 20 MPH. HEAVY
THUNDERSNOW SQUALLS WERE OCCURING IN SEVERAL PORTIONS OF THE LINE
WITH DANGEROUS CLOUD-TO-GROUND LIGHTNING STRIKES.

WINDS IN EXCESS OF 35 MPH ARE POSSIBLE WITH THIS DANGEROUS SQUALL.

MORGANTOWN...FAIRMONT...UNIONTOWN...CONNELLSVILLE...WESTOVER...
KINGWOOD...MOUNTAIN LAKE PARK...MANNINGTON...OAKLAND...STAR CITY...
PARSONS...TERRA ALTA...DAVIS...THOMAS...ROWLESBURG...BITTINGER...
PLEASANT VALLEY...WINFIELD...SOUTH CONNELLSVILLE AND FARMINGTON.

THIS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING HIGHWAYS...
  INTERSTATE 68 IN MARYLAND BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 1 AND 30.
  INTERSTATE 68 IN WEST VIRGINIA BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 1 AND 32.
  PENNSYLVANIA TURNPIKE BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 91 AND 100.
  INTERSTATE 79 IN WEST VIRGINIA BETWEEN MILE MARKERS 130 AND 160.

VISIBILITIES WILL DROP QUICKLY TO NEAR ZERO IN THIS DANGEROUS SQUALL.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FOR THE AREA. PLEASE MONITOR
LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS AND THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FOR FURTHER
STATEMENTS.
