Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has been subject to strong criticism from republicans in recent years for what they believe has been too much of a focus on social issues- and not enough on jobs and the economy. During O’Malley’s 7 plus years in the office, the democrat has pushed for more relaxed laws pertaining to illegal immigrants; same sex marriage; expanding gaming; and strict gun control measures. O’Malley, while acknowledging that he has attempted to make Maryland one of the more progressive states in the nation, maintains that it has not been accomplished by neglecting economic matters.
