January 10th, 2020 by WCBC Radio

On Thursday, January 9th, 2020 the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Department of Social Services on Frederick Street for a reported bomb threat.  When officers arrived, they spoke with a Social Services employee who stated that she answered a phone call from an unknown male complaining about child support payments they have been deducting from his income.  The male then became irate and threatened Department of Social Services employee saying that there was going to be hell to pay and that he was coming down to blow them all up.  Officers were able to identify the number that was used by the unknown male caller and linked the number to Jerry Wayne Morgan of Baker Street.  Baker was contacted by officers who admitted to making the call to the Department of Social Services.  He was arrested and charged with threatening to explode a destructive device in a structure, and threatening to commit a crime of violence.  Morgan was taken before the District Court Commissioner and was released on an unsecured bond of $25,000 pending trial.

Jerry Wayne Morgan, age; 49, Cumberland, Maryland.
