One Dead, Another Injured in Head-on Collision

According tp the Hampshire County Sheriff's office, a Springfield man died and a 17-year-old old Romney girl was hospitalized following a head-on collision late Saturday afternoon on state Route 28 in the area of Poland Hollow Road. The Cumberland Times News reports Aaron Blackburn, 32, was killed in the 4:40 p.m. crash. The girl, who suffered severe injuries, was pulled to safety by a passerby after her vehicle caught fire. She was initially treated at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center and later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, where she underwent surgery and was said to be in stable condition, according to the sheriff's office.

Police said Blackburn was operating a 2002 Oldsmobile Intrigue on Route 28 when the vehicle crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Ford F-150 truck operated by the female victim.

The accident remains under investigation
