Opioid Deaths Locally & Statewide Decline

The Maryland Opioid Operational Command Center has released the third quarter numbers concerning the battle against addiction.

There is good news to report locally.  In the first nine months of 2019, there were 18 opioid overdose deaths.  That’s down 11 from the 29 recorded in 2018 during the same period of time.

Allegany County’s Director of Emergency Services, Jim Pyles, used to be at the point of the battle for Maryland State Police, and was Director of Security for the state Department of Health…

Statewide, the news is better as well, with overdose deaths down slightly from the same period a year ago.
