Opioid Issue Discussed At Chamber of Commerce Pre-Legislative Breakfast

Delegate Mike McKay told members of the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce that while the governor has declared the state to be crisis mode when it comes to heroin and opioids- and resources are being directed to the fight- at present there are still more questions than answers.  The issue was one of several discussed by members of the local legislative delegation during the Chamber’s annual pre-legislative breakfast at the Cumberland Country Club.  This year, community members wanted to know what officials are doing at the state level to curb substance abuse, specifically, opioids and heroin. McKay said the bottom line is that many people are becoming addicted because physicians are prescribing too many opioid based medications. It’s a relatively new issue…
