March 19th, 2013 by WCBC Radio

This past week a new Warrant Initiative was conducted by the Cumberland Police Department’s Safe Streets Program. The Operation Safe Streets Warrant Initiative began Monday, March 11, and concluded Friday, March 15, 2013.

The goal continues to be making our streets safer through the reduction of backlogged arrest warrants. The Safe Streets Operation sought citizen help in locating and apprehending individuals on open arrest warrants.

For the final Stats for “Operation Takedown IV”, the teams made a total of thirty-six (36) adult arrests, with forty-four (44) arrest warrants served. This is another successful operation resulting from citizen assistance and the hard work by all the officers that participated in this operation.
