Outcry From Some In The Frostburg Community For A Change In Mountain Ridge Leadership

July 6th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Given the recent conviction of a former Mountain Ridge High School teacher for engaging in sexual activity with two female teenage students- there has been an outcry from some segments of the community for changes in leadership at that school. However the principal, Gene Morgan, essentially has received what sounded like a “vote of confidence” from the Superintendent of Schools. Many citizens in the Frostburg community say it was common knowledge that the teacher was having inappropriate relations with students over the course of several years and  believe that  teachers and the administration at the school had to have known. Superintendent David Cox, in an interview on WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” said that he isn’t at liberty to discuss the issue given that there is a current civil action against the board, and also because it’s a personnel matter. One thing he did say however seems to suggest that Cox doesn’t believe Morgan should be made a scapegoat as a result of the situation….
