Cumberland Man Charged With Rape

Rape Arrest

On June 17, 2015 at approximately 6:02 PM the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 100 block of Race Street for an assault complaint.  Upon the officers arrival they were met by Allen Lavar Johnson who let officers inside the residence.  The officers immediately observed a female handcuffed inside the residence.  Further investigation revealed the female had been held against her will for the past two days.  According to the victim, Johnson had placed handcuffs on her several times during the past two days to control her and keep her from leaving the residence.  During the two days the female victim was held against her will, Johnson physically and sexually assaulted her.

The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of her injuries obtained during the incident.  A search and seizure warrant was executed at the residence where evidence was collected.  C3I responded and is continuing the investigation.  Johnson was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond pending his next court appearance.

False Imprisonment, 2nd Degree Assault, 1st Degree Rape (2 counts), 2nd Degree Rape (2 counts)

On June 17, 2015 the Cumberland Police Department served Robert Michael Joseph Evans with a criminal summons charging him with 2nd Degree Assault and Disturbing the Peace.  The charges are the result of an incident that occurred on June 14, 2015 on Park Street.  A female victim made a complaint of being assaulted by Evans earlier in the day.  Minor injuries were observed, but medical treatment was not required.  Evans was served with the criminal summons and released pending a trial date at District Court.
