September 24th, 2014                                                             Bench Warrant Served

On 09/24/14 Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept served two bench warrants on 23 year old Nicholas Moreland of Cumberland. The first bench warrant stems from Moreland failing to follow conditions of probation on an original charge of Assault 2nd degree. The second warrant stems from Moreland failing to follow conditions of probation on an original charge of Violation of an Exparte Order. Moreland was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a total of $20,000 bail.

 

September 24th, 2014                                                                  Shoplifting

On 09/24/14 at 12:07pm Officers with the Cumberland Police Dept responded to a business located in the 400blk of Virginia Ave in reference to a theft complaint. Upon arrival Officers contacted store employees who stated that they observed a male subject conceal an item on his person and leave the store without paying for it. Officers then contacted 30 year old John Sinclair of Rawlings and were able to recover the stolen item. Sinclair was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Department where he was issued a Maryland Criminal Citation for Theft under $100.00 and released pending trial in District Court.

 

September 25th, 2014                                                                 Bench Warrant Served

On 09/25/14 the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on 22 year old Nicholas Kneisley of Cumberland. The warrant stems from Kneisley failing to follow conditions of probation of an original charge of Malicious burning. Kneisley was taken for an initial appearance at District Court where he was held on a $10,000 bail.

 

September 25th, 2014                                                              Destruction of Property

On 09/25/14 at 1:26am Officers with the Cumberland Police Department were dispatched to the 100blk of Park St in reference to a destruction of property to a vehicle. Upon arrival officers contacted the victim who stated that while he was traveling on Park St an unknown subject threw a rock striking his windshield causing damage. A short time later a second complaint was dispatched advising of an unknown subject throwing a rock through a window of an apartment on Queen City Pavement. Officers later were dispatched to a disturbance in the first block of Ascension St. Upon arrival Officers observed one of the subjects to match the description as given by witnesses as the subject who threw the rocks causing the damage to the vehicle and building. Officers were also able to view video of the incident and were able to confirm that this subject identified as Patrick Kneisley, 23 years of age of Cumberland was responsible for the damage. Kneisley was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland Police Dept for processing. Kneisley was charged on a Maryland Criminal Citation with two counts of Destruction of Property under $1,000 and released pending trial in District Court.
