Saying that the time has come for deferred maintenance to be addressed, Cumberland City Administrator Jeff Rhodes has proposed the city council approve a new department- consisting of 6 current city employees. Rhodes said that existing staff will be formed into a new department to work on some of these issues- and that the new department will be named “Central Services.” Expenditures for the new department will be minimal at about $8,000. The new department will include some of the county’s most skilled employees, including “high-level” electricians.
