Re-negotiating Of Health Insurance Terms To Be First Priority When Dealing With City Budget Shortfall

The message from the Cumberland City Council on Tuesday was that it’s too late to take any extreme measures in this fiscal year to fix the budget problems. Wait until next year has become a familiar refrain.  The city will hold a public budget meeting May 23, followed by a first reading on the proposal June 6 and a final vote by council June 20. City Councilman Richard “Rock” Cioni said that his first priority- although not a popular one- will be dealing with the obvious need to re-negotiate health insurance terms with the various city bargaining groups…
