Republican Minority Whip Kathy Szeliga Announces Bid for U.S. Senate

November 10th, 2015 by WCBC Radio

Today, Kathy Szeliga, a Republican Delegate and the Minority Whip, announced her candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Barbara Mikulski.  Her campaign issued a statement with the announcement Tuesday.  Emphasizing the need to bring change to politics in Washington to ensure the safety and prosperity of future generations, Delegate Szeliga said,  ”I believe if we do not act now, our children and grandchildren will have fewer opportunities to live out the American Dream.

“There was a time when Congress worked and provided the basic needs using the tax dollars we sent them and they protected our freedoms.  The people we send to Washington have to roll up their sleeves, stop the fighting and work together on issues that are not political, not partisan, but personal to families across our state and our nation.  Government has gotten too big and it’s infringed on our liberty and freedom.”

As a U.S. Senator, Kathy will focus on three main areas: Improving our quality of life, improving our security, and improving our education system. With a strong background in both business and politics, Kathy has proven to be a hard worker dedicated to stopping government overreach and restoring the American Dream.
