Romney Man Charged In Grantsville Incident

July 26th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

On Thursday at about 12:30 PM, Maryland State Police investigated a traffic incident near Grantsville.

According to the report, Robert Doman Jr, of Romney, was operating a 2000 Chevy Camaro on eastbound I-68 at mile marker 22.  Gerald Bisset was operating a 2017 Chrysler eastbound I-68 behind the Chevy Camaro.

Traffic slowed due to a separate vehicle fire.   The Chrysler 300 failed to reduce speed and subsequently struck the back of the Chevy Camaro.  The operator of the Camaro, Doman, then intentionally backed into the front of the Chrysler 300 and fled the scene eastbound on I-68.

Troopers from the McHenry Barrack that were on the scene of the vehicle fire stopped the Chevy Camaro eastbound I-68 east of the 22 mile marker.  The troopers made contact with the operator, Doman.  An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected.  Doman failed field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DUI/DWI, MDOP less than $1,000, failure to remain on the scene of an accident, and reckless driving.

He was taken before the Garrett County District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.
