The City of Cumberland and its firefighters union have declared an impasse in negotiations and Allegany County Circuit Court Judge Timothy Finan said he would issue an order by the end of Friday’s business day concerning the matter. The firefighters of Local 1715 are working without a contract for several months, one of the hangups being the city wanting the firefighters to accept a change in health coverage. Judge Finan has both sides to compile a list of issues that are causing the impasse. One option could be ordering the sides to third party mediation.
