Sen. Cardin Speaks On Economy

U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, re-elected to a second term last week, says that overcoming its challenges, without compromising its strengths is the priority when it comes to revitalizing the economy in western Maryland. Modernizing and improving transportation infrastructure will help keep Allegany and Garrett counties Maryland competitive, stimulate its economy and improve the lives of all its citizens. Completion of the North-south Appalachian Highway connecting I-68 to the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Corridor H in West Virginia is expected to create more than 12,000 new permanent jobs and 20,000 construction jobs in the three affected states. Building on to a growing high tech industry and expanding tourism opportunities are the key to the western region’s economic future…
