State’s Passed Budget Includes Funding for Footer Building

As time wound down Monday in the 2015 session of the Maryland General Assembly- one of the victories for Allegany County was the inclusion of more than $1 million in the state’s capital budget for the Footer Dye Works project. The 90 session in Annapolis played out like a roller coaster for the Canal Place project. Governor Larry Hogan himself proclaimed at one point that there would be no room for funding any new projects in his capital budget- only to have the local delegation continue to lobby for at least a portion of the money needed for what have been described as critical infrastructure improvements for the aging building. Canal Place Authority Chair Rick Thayer commended the delegation for the hard work down on behalf of the authority to secure state dollars for the project…
