Teen killed in Friendsville accident

On 7/3/2018 at approximately 1503 hours, Troopers from the Maryland State Police McHenry Barrack were dispatched to I-68 e/b just west of Sand Springs Rd in Friendsville, Garrett County, Maryland, for a single vehicle rollover on the right shoulder with ejections.  Once on scene, responding Troopers began rendering aid until EMS arrived.  Investigation revealed that a 2004 Ford Explorer, driven by Crystal Adams of Morgantown, West Virginia, was traveling e/b on I-68. The operator lost control of the vehicle, struck an embankment, and rolled over several times. There were 5 passengers, including 4 juveniles, in the vehicle. It was discovered 5 of the 6 occupants were ejected from the vehicle, with four of them seated in the 3 person rear seat with no seat belts being utilized. A 13 year old juvenile died while being transported to Ruby Memorial. A 12 year old juvenile was flown by Trooper 5 to Ruby Memorial for life threatening injuries. All other occupants were ground transported to Ruby Memorial, in WV. The incident is still under investigation.

 

Personnel from Friendsville Fire Department, State Highway Administration, and Garrett County Rescue Squad also responded to the scene.
