Warrant Arrest Results In Additional Charges

On Saturday, April 11, 2015 at approximately 2:25 p.m., the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence located in the 700 block of Lincoln Street in reference to a disturbance.  Upon the officers arrival contact was made with the subjects involved in the disturbance.  One of the subjects, Leo Richard Durocher Jr  was currently wanted on an arrest warrant.  Durocher was placed under arrest and during a search of his person officers located Marijuana in his pants pocket as well as other drug paraphernalia.  Durocher was transported to Police Headquarters for processing.

The arrest warrant against Durocher stems from an assault investigation which was reported to the Cumberland Police Department on April 6, 2015.  On that date an officer responded to the local hospital to meet with the victim of the assault.  The victim stated that he was assaulted by Durocher in the 300 block of Frederick Street.  The victim stated that while he was in this area Durocher approached him, stated something to him about a brick then punched him in the face with a closed fist.  The victim stated that Durocher then struck him on the side of his head with a brick.  The victim stated that Durocher walked away from the area.  The victim called a friend to transport him to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. 

Charges were applied for which resulted in the warrant being issued.

Durocher was taken to District Court for his initial appearance and was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on $5,000.00.

Leo Richard Durocher Jr – age 22 – Cumberland, MD

Charges:

Civil citation for possession of less than 10 grams of Marijuana.

Criminal citation for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Arrest warrant charging Durocher with second degree assault, deadly weapon with intent to injure.
