West Virginians More Optimistic about state’s Future

West Virginians are gradually becoming more optimistic about the state’s future, polling conducted by Charleston-based Orion Strategies shows. The poll of 365 historic likely voters finds that 44 percent believe the state is headed in the right direction, while 38 percent say it is not. That’s up slightly from the firm’s February 2017 poll, when 42 percent said the state is headed in the right direction and 37 percent said it is not, and up significantly from the 2016 poll, when only 18 percent said the state is headed in the right direction and a 71 percent plurality believed it was not.
