With General Assembly Winding Down Decision on Tax Breaks in Question

Less than a month remains in the 2015 session of the Maryland General Assembly and the final few weeks are shaping up to be a battle over whether or not tax cuts can be implemented. Last week, Comptroller Peter Franchot said bluntly that given the current fiscal situation, with steady but not rising revenues- it would be unwise to push for tax cuts this year. Senate President Mike Miller disagreed, saying he believes there are several taxes that could be reduced. Governor Larry Hogan campaigned on a pledge to cut taxes and he says his administration is moving forward toward that goal. He said he plans to continue talks with the General Assembly about tax relief…
