UPDATED: WV 28 Issues Cause Saturday Headaches

June 17th, 2018 by WCBC Radio

West Virginia Route 28 suffered damage a few weeks back when heavy rain created a washout under the roadway in the Short Gap/Furnace Acres area.

A temporary patch on that area gave way Saturday evening when a sink hole opened up. Short Gap Firemen directed traffic around the problem, but it was a traffic nightmare for folks who used that route.

UPDATE:  The Short Gap Volunteer Fire Department has identified the location on Route 28 South between Old Furnace and Mountaineer Mart.

The firefighters are urging caution as the area affected has been marked by cones by West Virginia Highways personnel.
