On May 1, 2025 at approximately 4:00 PM the Cumberland City Police responded to East Elder Street for an assault. Upon arrival officers spoke to several involved parties. Officers learned there was a mutual assault between four roommates over financial issues. Officers placed Gregory Bailey and Joseph Bailey under arrest without issue. As officers were attempting to arrest John Arlott Sr, he began to flee. John Arlott Jr attempted to aid him in avoiding arrest. After a short pursuit both Arlott Sr and Arlott Jr were placed under arrest. While attempting to place Arlott Jr under arrest Nicole Sorrells began yelling at the officers and interfering in the arrest. Sorrells was advised to leave the area but refused. Sorrells was then placed under arrest without further issue. As a result of this incident five adults were placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner.

Status – Held without bond

Gregory Bailey (29) Cumberland, MD
Charges – 2 counts of Assault 2nd Degree
Status – Held without bond

Joseph Bailey (26) Cumberland, MD
Charges – 2 counts of Assault 2nd Degree
Status – Held without bond

Nicole Sorrells (42)
Charges – Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing and Hindering
Status – Released on own recognizance
