Consumer advocates say PJM, the power transmission group for 13 states in the east has caused rates to increase through the delay of clean energy projects that could help power data centers. PJM is considering another rate hike with a vote this week on how to pay for billions in upgrades to deal with those data centers. “That’s the main reason that electricity prices have skyrocketed. So you know this $20 bill increase that we saw through the last auction – NRDC is expecting this to rise to as much as $70 per month over the next six years.”
