American Water, the company in talks to buy Maryland Water Service that controls water for Bel Air residents, has asked the West Virginia Public Service Commission for a double-digit rate hike that would increase the company’s net annual water and wastewater revenue by $60 million dollars. The company says it need to rep lace aging infrastructure. It would increase customer bills in two steps, first by $11, then by $5.
