The newly redesigned downtown Cumberland area has done more than open up traffic on Baltimore Street. Since it’s grand opening a year ago, representatives of other cities and counties along with economic development committees have visited the area to see how the $16 million dollar project has worked at returning shoppers and businesses to a city retail area. Cumberland’s Main Street Manager Melinda Kelleher says the project has received major recognition…
“The project has received several awards – state awards – the Maryland Economic Development Association gave us an award, the Maryland Department of Planning. And the International Economic Development Council all awarded the project for innovation and impact.”
