On Saturday, December 27, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on John Sell following an incident that occurred earlier that morning.

At approximately 4:56 a.m. on December 27, 2025, officers responded to a residence in the 500 block of Bedford Street for a reported assault. While officers were speaking with Sell at the scene, he became combative and assaulted multiple officers.

After a brief struggle, Sell was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. As a result of the incident, charges were filed against Sell in the Allegany County District Court. A District Court Commissioner subsequently issued a criminal summons.

Sell later signed for his copy of the summons and was released pending trial.

Arrest: John Louis Sell, Age 24, Cumberland, Maryland.

Charges: Assault 2nd Degree x 4
