September’s meeting of Maryland’s Board of Revenue Estimates showed a very slight – less than one percent – decrease from March numbers. The state is now forecasting $26.7 billion in revenue for fiscal year 2026. The forecast also sees revenue of $27.1 billion for fiscal year 2027. Comptroller Lierman said they are preparing for another difficult budget cycle following moves by the federal government…
“What we’re seeing in the economic data isn’t fully showing up or isn’t fully manifesting in our tax collections yet. It will take time to fully understand how the Trump Administration’s policy changes will reshape Maryland’s revenue landscape.”
DBM Secretary Helene Grady echoed Lierman’s comments on the effects of changes from the feds…
“These are incredibly uncertain times for Marylanders who rely on federal employment and who rely on these federal benefits as well as our broader state economy and state budget.”
