House Minority Leader Jason Buckel recently spoke to WBAL Radio about Governor Moore’s redistricting commission, saying it was a tactic for Moore to gain more street cred to further his political ambitions.  Buckel said gerrymandering districts is just wrong…

  

“It’s wrong for politicians to use consultants and computer programs to try to guarantee what the results of the election are going to be.”

Buckel said districts should be made up of citizens of similar backgrounds…

   

“They should be relatively compact. They should be areas that have communities of interest and commonality. You shouldn’t be combining Western Maryland where I live with inside the DC Beltway communities. That’s what they have to do to get a congressional seat out here in District 6.”
