Re-drawing congressional district lines in Maryland is usually tied to the US Census, which means a new district map is not due until 2030. However, Governor Moore’s move to have new districts drawn mid-cycle has met with mixed reviews. Local historian Al Feldstein shared with WCBC that the 2010 redistricting affected a major change in District 6, causing the loss of a representative who had been in office for 20 years…
“As a result, eventually, I think over 700,000 people were moved around. They lost part of Carroll, par of Frederick, added in part of Montgomery County. And the district became Democratic and I think Roscoe Bartlett lost the election.”
