The West Virginia legislature may be called back to Charleston for a special session later this summer, but a similar action in Maryland doesn’t seem likely according to House Minority Leader Jason Buckel. Buckel tells WCBC he and Garrett County Delegate Jim Hinebaugh serve on a special oversight committee set up to discuss federal budget changes…
“…go through and assess what the budgetary implications of the various federal actions may be and that will give us a better idea as to whether or not we need to do something on an emergency basis.”
The committee meets again next week, and Buckel feels there’s not a consensus for a special session…
“I don’t know what a special session would mean, because I don’t think that certainly the Senate Democratic leadership has expressed much of a willingness to enact more new taxes and new fees.”
