The Allegany County Commissioners have signed a letter supporting the possible reopening of the AES Warrior Run Power Plant. A request from Matt Ottaviani of AES to sign the letter was presented by County Administrator Jason Bennett. AES is applying for a federal grant to assist in the recommissioning of the plant. Bennett read a portion of the letter that said reopening would bring jobs and taxes back to the county…
“The facility is in a state of readiness and could be operational within six months requiring minimal reactivation work. Importantly, this would occur at no additional cost to Maryland ratepayers while preserving critical capacity interconnection rights with PJM, rights that are essential to future energy development at the site.”
