Mayor Ray Morriss took some time this past Friday to talk with WCBC in more detail about the Washington Street Bridge situation in the city.  Residents would like to see the bridge repaired or rebuilt, but the mechanics behind such a project are complicated. Morriss said that for the bridge to be replaced at the height that CSX Transportation requires, a large area would be forever changed…

   

“The entire Chase Street would have to be redone, too with their approaches on to Washington. And then as you go down on the other side, you would probably take three or four houses on both sides of Washington Street in the 300 block.”
