Cumberland Roof Replacement Program is now open!

May 4th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

The Roof Replacement Program is funded by the State of Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and is designed for the replacement of deteriorating roofs of single-family homes within the Sustainable Communities Designated Area within the City of Cumberland.

This program applies for residential, owner occupied, properties assessed for under $100,000 within the City limits of Cumberland. Applicants must meet an income requirement of 50% (or lower) Area Median Income. Proof of annual income required. Priority for this funding will be given to the disabled, elderly and veterans.

Not everyone who applies will be accepted. If selected, the City of Cumberland will proceed to get quotes from three (3) qualified contractors registered with the City. A licensed contractor must perform all work. Contractor must provide a valid MHIC License, valid bonding documents, and valid home improvement insurance documentation. The contractor will be issued a check for completed contracted work by the City of Cumberland.

Roof replacements will take place during the spring, summer and winter as weather allows. Application packets can be obtained in person from the Community Development Department (lower level of City Hall). Questions about the Roof Replacement Program should be directed to Ruth Davis-Rogers: ruth.davis-rogers@cumberlandmd.gov.
