Every state has a “Slow Down, Move Over” law on the books, but a recent AAA study shows two-thirds of drivers across the nation don’t fully understand the law. Maryland requires drivers to slow down and, when possible, move over a lane for tow trucks, disabled vehicles, first responders, and law enforcement on roadsides. Doug Johnson with AAA says many times, drivers are distracted and don’t see the vehicles on the roadside…
“Stop with the distracted driving. If you have your cellphone in your hand, you’re doing it wrong. You need to put it down, throw it in the back seat, put it in the trunk of your car if you have a problem with it. It’s not just phones, a lot of these newer cars – they have I-pads in the center console. You’ve got to stop looking at that. You need to start looking at the road.”
