The state’s first hearing of the governor-appointed redistricting committee was held late Friday afternoon via the Zoom platform. Over 100 speakers were scheduled to testify on the redistricting question. One of those, Jake Taylor of Bel Air, noted that Governor Moore lamented the rush that created the current map and cautioned the commission not to do the same thing…
“If this commission moves forward now, on this timeline, there is no that it would be even more rushed than in the 2022 process. Likely causing even more delays and administrative burdens than our local boards of elections experienced in 2022. Simply put, moving forward with redistricting at this time would be wrong. It would be wrong practically, it would be wrong legally, and it would be wrong morally.”
