Frostburg State University is deeply saddened to confirm the passing of a student on campus. The University extends its heartfelt condolences to the student's family, friends and loved ones during this difficult time. Out of respect for the family and to protect their privacy, no additional details are being released at this time. University officials are working closely with Student Affairs, University Police and executive leadership. There is no threat to the safety of the campus community.
The University has mobilized support services for students and employees through the Student Counseling Center and via after-hours crisis support through University Police. "This is a heartbreaking loss for our campus community," said interim president Darlene Brannigan Smith, PhD. "As we grieve together, I encourage everyone to take care of themselves and one another, and to reach out for support during this difficult time."
FSU asks the community to keep the student's family and friends in their thoughts and to respect their privacy as they mourn.
