On Tuesday, January 6th, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Ali Shabazz, 75, of Cumberland MD. Shabazz was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant after it was discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. The original charge against Shabazz on the Dauphin County warrant was theft by unlawful taking. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond, pending extradition.
