Garrett County Sheriff Bryson Meyers has put offenders on notice that spitting on sheriff deputies will not be tolerated.  Following an increase in incidents where deputies were being spat upon while performing their duties, Sheriff Meyers put out a statement that such actions are disrespectful, as well as posing a health risk in transmission of disease.  He said the act is assault under the law and anyone committing such an act will face immediate and appropriate legal consequences.
