Governor Rolls Out State Worker Buyout Plan

July 14th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Maryland state workers can now apply to a buyout plan introduced by Governor Wes Moore.  Part of a plan to cut the state’s spending, the program is open to workers with at least two years service. The voluntary separation program is part of the state’s efforts to trim spending by over $120 million dollars. Official terms are on the state’s website but include a lump sum payment of $20,000, $300 per year of service and continued health insurance for six months.
