Members of the UPMC Mammography Team recently spoke with WCBC and shared the importance of mammogram screenings, as well as the steps to take when concerned about breast health. Team member Wendi Martz says one in eight women will have breast cancer in their lifetime, and as they get older, the risk goes up…
“A lot of people think when they get to about 70 years old or so, they stop having mammograms, but actually the risk goes up as they get older. The one in eight is actually based on an 85 year old women, so, you want to at least have your mammogram as you are in good condition to have it.”
