McKay Bill Has Veto Overridden

December 22nd, 2025 by WCBC Radio

A bill to help security guard agencies in the state operate more efficiently was vetoed by Governor Moore in the spring, but during the recent special legislative session, that veto was overturned by the House and Senate. Senate Bill 455 will allow certain security guard agencies to apply for special police officer appointments. McKay said he was pleasantly surprised to see the veto overturned…

“And what it does is it cuts down on the cost of people having their own police force. And this will allow a company to then be in multiple locations not just one location where the law prohibits multiple locations right now.”
