People seeing columns of black smoke from the Mexico Farms area have called 911 seeking answers as to the source. WCBC has found that the Allegany County mulch site is working on a backlog of debris to be burned. One caller to the county was concerned about EPA permits, but County Administrator Jason Bennet says all is in order for burning the organic debris…

    

“We contracted someone so we have a contractor who is doing that on our behalf. They have a burn permit.”

The county mulch site remains closed as it is full at this time. The burn may continue for a few more days.
