Visitors to last Saturday's Rail Fest got an engine unveiling as 561 made its first debut under new paint and parts. The engine arrived last September under the cover of darkness and Wes Heinz, Executive Director of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad said a new arrival of rolling stock is coming in the next week… 

 

"So we we debuted 561 in her new paint job and she actually has a lot of new parts of things going on so we're very proud of that but, also special to the community. We've been focusing a little bit on trying to have things that are historic to the railroads that made Cumberland and one of those is the B&O Railroad, the Baltimore and Ohio and here in the next week to 10 days the Baltimore and Ohio office car number 905 will be arriving. It's carried various names throughout the years but this car is spectacular. The entire interior is mahogany and it has a kitchen, it can sleep about 10 people and then it's got a beautiful patio or observation platform on the back. She is going to be a real jewel not just for Western Maryland Scenic but for the community to enjoy and we look forward to being able to share it with everybody."
